shelley m hughes is a registered NM Architect, with more than 10 years experience in the field of Architecture. She has worked on a wide range of single family residential projects as well as a variety of projects which include government, commercial, industrial, educational, religious, financial, office, warehouse, live/work, and multifamily projects. As an Owner/President of SMHA, she has involvement in all facets of company operations including design, production, review, project coordination, permitting, construction administration, and client interactions and relations. Beginning her career in architecture in 2004 as an Intern Architect at JLS Architects in Albuquerque, NM, she received a well-rounded foundation in architecture with a wide range of responsibilities on each project at many different levels of design. She returned back to her home town of Cloudcroft, NM with her husband in 2007 to begin growing a family business and building a legacy for the mountain community and surrounding area. She and her husband and two children continue to live in the beautiful Sacramento Mountains, the highest point in the southern Rocky Mountains, truly a place like no other with inspirations and opportunities far beyond what she could have ever imagined or anticipated.

Gabriel joined SMHA in June of 2018 with a talented background. Having knowledge in a variety of CAD software and 3-D modeling software. He brings great creativity to how we can best utilize our drafting programs; not only produce beautiful construction drawings but also great 3-D models and walk through videos, as well as a thoughtful perspective to each project he is involved in. He has previous experience working at IDEA Innovation Think Team in El Paso, working with a variety of software to produce working drawings and photo realistic images for future projects. He recently moved to the Village of Cloudcroft, in his personal time he enjoys taking hikes and going to El Paso to visit his friends and family.

Tamara teamed up with SMHA in September of 2014 having recently graduated from the Doña Ana Community College in Las Cruces, NM with emphasis in Revit and AutoCAD drafting.  She has had a lot of hands on experience with construction, welding and carpentry which all serve as assets in the design process.  Knowing how things go together and why, can save so much time in creative solutions.  She is extremely organized in her approach in solving problems and enjoys the entire design process.  She and her husband reside in Tularosa, NM.  She too has many hobbies that encourage creativity in all she does.  She enjoys her entire family of all generations, building furniture and welding.
